I Wrote A Song For Your Love And It Goes Like This

Hey!

So it's been a while since the last blog post and a lot's happened since then...

I finished and handed in my dissertation, and passed my uni course with a 2:2 :D

A few days after handing in said dissertation I had a car accident and wrote off my car :(

At the beginning of June I started work full time in my local Building Society. It's kinda like a bank but smaller and primarily focused on savings and mortgages.

Now the dust's starting to settle so hopefully the blog will get back on track and I can update you all on the many many goodie's I've bought!!

See you all soon!

Got To Be Good Lookin, He Just Do What He Please

I'm very much of the opinion that music makes the world a much better place to live in, as not only does it lift spirits but gives everyone a common ground.

With that in mind, this post is basically gonna be me rambling about five songs that I'm in love/obsessed with at the moment!

Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell and Nile Rodgers) - Get Lucky

OH MY GOD THIS SONG IS FUNKTASTIC. Like seriously. Nile Rodgers makes this song what it is. If you don't know who he is, go look him up, I guarantee you'll know at least one of his songs! Pharrell, too is pretty fantastic and this is pretty much one of the best things he's done in the last few years. And Daft Punk. Well, what a bloody surprise! Just amazing!

Vampire Weekend - Diane Young

Vampire Weekend have the knack of releasing brilliant songs just before summer, and this is definitely no exception. I really can't fault this song at all, and I'm stupidly excited for their album to come out!!

Haim - Falling

These girls own my heart. I love them. I love the breathiness of the vocal and the overall way the song is put together. MORE OF THIS PLZ GUYZ. thnx.

The Black Keys - Sinister Kid

Oh my. This is a relatively old song for these guys but it's one of my all time favourites from them. It has more kick to it than a vindaloo. In my opinion, if anyone doesn't like Dan Auerbach's voice then they have no soul!

Iggy Azalea - Work

OOOOH what a marmite song this is! The general consensus among my friends is that half love it and half hate it. I, obviously, am on the love team for this song. I don't quite know why I love it, but I've been blaring it from my car ever since I downloaded it, and I'm not about to stop now!

See you next time :)

Pucker Up For Heavens Sake, There's Never Been So Much At Stake

Hey!

Today's blog is me somewhat confronting my hoarding for certain things..

There's a stupid amount of things that I hoard, including train tickets, spoons (don't ask..), things relating to birds and bird cages, and empty perfume bottles.

However to limit the amount of crazy in this post I'll just go into detail about four of them..

Empty glass bottles

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea why I feel the need to keep empty glass bottles.. I always have done and they only go when my mum barges in and takes them away, which usually results in me not talking to her for a couple of hours.. I would just like to point out that the three bottles in the picture (there are more hiding around my room) are all a brand of cider called Rekorderlig. If you haven't tried them then GET ON IT!! They don't taste like normal cider, they're so fruity and light, it's ridiculous how fast I can get through a bottle!

Sunglasses

So I have 9 pairs of sunglasses (and another pair on the way..). No, a normal person doesn't need this many pairs of sunglasses. I know that I definitely need two, a prescription pair and a normal pair. But 9? Nah. There are three pairs of Ray Bans in there so you can guess how much I've spent on sunglasses over the last three years...

Lipsticks

Now this one genuinely baffles me. There are 9 (and probably more hidden away) lipsticks in my possession. Do I wear them? No. The only time I would wear lipstick is on a night out, and even then I favour a stain/balm over a stick or a gloss. I should really stop buying them but they're just so pretty it's hard to say goodbye!

Pencils

All aboard the crazy train! Seriously, again, no idea why I need so many pencils. The ones in the picture are only about half of the amount I have, and they're not even colouring pencils..they're normal HB! When I was at school I was all over stationary and was pretty obsessed with having new pens, pencils, pencil cases etc so it's probably stuck from there. Even now at uni, when I only really need a pen if I don't have my laptop, I still buy a new pencil case every year and make sure it's stocked up!

So that's enough crazy for one day...

See you next time :)

Things That Feel Good Are Things That Don't Last

First of all, Happy belated Easter!

Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was great, especially with it being kicked off on Good Friday with a trip to Southampton with two of my friends for a day of shopping.

This post is mostly a haul of everything as well as a few product reviews.

Boots

Seeing as I practically live in Boots it seemed like a good place to start with the reviews. Once again, I took advantage of their current 3 for 2 offer but surprisingly not on nail polish! The three items that I got were...

One

Maybelline Rocket Volum' Express Mascara

I have to say, I am in love with this mascara. I never really used to be a massive fan of mascara, as I have quite long eyelashes naturally. However, unlike other mascara's I have, this one glides on with total ease and doesn't clump at all.

Rocket Volum' Mascara used on top lashes. Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express used on bottom lashes.

Two

I got bought a couple of these by my friends while they were out in America over the New Year and I've fallen head over heels for them! When I saw this colour I knew I just had to get it. When they say it lasts for 24 hours, it really does. At no point during the day do I have to sneak off and touch it up and it's a great colour to wear for a natural day-to-day look. The picture above of me wearing the Maybelline Rocket Volum' Mascara also shows me wearing Pink Gold, blended with Bad To The Bronze in the outer corner.

Three

Boots Seventeen Berry Crush Lipstain. I can't remember what shade it is I bought but judging by the colours on the website I think it's Cherry Berry.

This is a product that I'll definitely be wearing on nights out. I love the colour and adore that it comes with a balm to set in the colour.

Primark

Normally, I detest the idea of going into a Primark. I'd rather buy slightly more expensive, good quality clothes instead of getting a cheap fix. However on this trip I found quite a few items that I really liked from the word go.

Ikea

I won't lie, if I could live in Ikea, I probably would. In the case of a zombie apocalypse it's probably the first place I'd try to get to, even though the nearest one to me is about 35 miles away.

So that's everything!

See you next time :)

I'll Keep My Eyes Fixed On The Sun

Oh Boots and your 3 for 2 offer, how you own my soul...

Yesterday I went back and bought MORE nail polish. As if I don't already have enough!

We'll start with the one I least liked.

It's very rare that I'm disappointed with a Barry M nail polish but this one, Pink Saphire Glitter, was the opposite of what I expected from it. I thought it would come out all glitter, rather than a mix of glitter and gloop. The product is extremely thick and runny and just isn't nice to work with.

The next one I got was Barry M Gold Mine Glitter.

Please excuse the messy nails in this photo!

I love, love, love this polish! This is what I thought Pink Sapphire Glitter would be like. I love how it's primarily the black base colour with the added glitter for effect. I can't wait for my next night out to wear this!

And for, quite possibly my new favourite colour, Barry M Peach Melba.

This colour is just beautiful and perfect for summer! I can already see myself switching between this and the Barry M Ridley Road colour all summer long.

BONUS NAIL POLISH

So while the three above make up the 3 for 2 offer, I couldn't resist getting the Rimmel Matte Finish Topcoat too.

I love how matte nail colours look and have been looking around for a matte topcoat that 1) stays on longer than two days without rubbing off, and 2) doesn't break the bank. As I've only had it on for a day I'm still not sure about the first priority but the second was definitely fulfilled.

I really like how Peach Melba looks with the matte topcoat, and I'll probably end up putting it on every colour I use from now on!

See you next time :)

Brooklyn Move My Soul Like This

Today, a miracle happened.

I finally found a foundation I like.

Anybody who knows me will know that usually, I HATE foundations. However, after reading a fair few reviews on Revlon's Nearly Naked Make-Up Foundation, I decided to give it a go.

The shade I bought was Shell which is the third palest that Revlon do. What I love most about this product is that it's a light coverage, which you can build up to the type of coverage you most like. For me, the turn off with foundations before has always been that it looks too thick and cakey on my skin, but with this particular foundation I haven't found that at all. Another plus is that it's got an SPF of 20, so it should provide good protection during the summer (if we ever get one in England!).

However, the downside to this product is there's no pump. Personally, I found it quite awkward to get on with at first because of this. But once you get used to it then you forget that other foundations come with a pump.

Along with purchasing the foundation, I also bought the Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder.

The shade I bought for this was Light Pale which is the second palest shade available. Before this I'd never used a pressed powder before, and had always been put off by the girls at school who would cake themselves in it and make themselves look orange. I'll be honest here, while I do like it, I find myself getting a bit self conscious wondering whether or not I look like an Oompa Loompa. But all in all I do think it's a good product.

As I bought both of these in Boots, I also bought one of the textured Barry M nail polishes to make up the 3 for 2 on make up offer.

I absolutely adore this nail polish! The shade I got was Ridley Road and it comes out as a minty duck egg blue which looks amazing. The texture that comes out is what can be best described as a soft sandpaper kind of feel. While I probably haven't described it in the best way it is a great product and looks really good. I honestly can't wait for summer to wear this more and more!

See you next time :)
